Human Body Systems Flip Book {FREE}

The human body is an amazing machine made up of many interacting systems! We have created this FREE tabbed flip book that introduces six major human body systems. One of our main teaching goals in science is for our kids to have an understanding of the different systems of the human body and how various organs work together to carry out specific functions. Whether you are using this booklet as a review or introducing these systems for the first time, it’s a perfect easy-to-assemble tabbed book with basic information. So, if you’re looking for a simple to understand human body booklet, then this is perfect for you and your students!

About the Book

These are the six systems that are covered in our tabbed flip book:

1. Skeletal – provides support, structure and protects the body

2. Muscular – helps the body move

3. Digestive – breaks down food to extract nutrients to help the body grow

4. Respiratory – brings oxygen into the body

5. Circulatory – blood carries oxygen from the heart to each cell of the body

6. Nervous – brain communicates through a network of nerves, receives messages from your senses, and then tells the body how to react

We’ve also included an introduction page! This book is designed to be used in grades 1-3 and we find that 1st graders may need a little help reading the book independently while 2nd and 3rd graders will be able to read the book with little to no help. Send these home so parents can see what they are currently learning, or keep them in student’s science notebooks as a reference guide.

Creating the Human Body System Book

All you need to create this tabbed flip book is:

  • book templates (found in the download below)
  • scissors
  • crayons or markers
  • stapler

To make this booklet, you will first print and copy the book templates for each student. Then, students should color the pages and tabs if desired. Next, they will cut out each page. Be sure to remind them to be careful to cut around the tabs and not accidentally cut them off! Books should then be put in the following order: introduction, skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous system. Finally, staple the books on the shaded gray area.

After the books are assembled you can read them together as a class. Or, you may want to have students read them with a friend or in a small group. Encourage them to ask questions as they are learning about each system! Keep track of the questions they ask and look up the answers together as a class as you study more about the human body.
