Classroom Ice Cream Party End of the Year Activity

With the weather warming up and the end of the school year quickly approaching, there’s no better time to throw a classroom ice cream party! You can incorporate fun while reinforcing skills that you’ve taught throughout the school year with our FREE ice cream party planning activity. Our students love being part of the party planning process while getting to celebrate their time together as a class. Best of all, the final product is something that is a team effort and nicely ties up the school year in a yummy way! This activity also works really well during summer school or anytime you want to reward your kids for a job well done.

Party Planning Printables

You get FOUR FREE printables to get your kids excited for the upcoming party! First, have students write a persuasive paragraph as to why the class should have the party. This is a perfect opportunity for them to show off their writing skills while responding to a specific prompt.

Next, have them brainstorm ideas they will need for the party. They can jot down their suggestions in the ice cream scoop graphic organizer and share their ideas with the class.

After that, they will create a shopping list. This fun printable allows the students to think ahead of what may be needed. As a class, share these ideas and come up with a master list!

Finally, incorporate a little math fun into the mix by doing an ice cream tally up! Have students vote for their favorite flavors and toppings and tally up the results. Create a graph as a class by using the results. This will help decide what ice cream flavors and toppings are an absolute must for the party!

Ice Cream Party Tips

  1. Involve parents by having them bring supplies. You will need plenty of napkins, bowls, spoons and of course ice cream!
  2. Use muffin tins and cupcake liners to create an organized self serve topping bar. We love this idea because it makes separating the toppings easy and accessible for the kids.
  3. Buy ice cream cups that are already individually packaged so all you have to do is add the toppings.
  4. Play music! You can create your own playlist or find ones with kid-friendly summer music to really get everyone excited for the upcoming summer break.
  5. Make ice cream themed goody bags for your kiddos! We love this set from Amazon:
